Hi Everyone,

Well we are happy to say that we are in Colorado! We’ve had our first couple of weeks out here already and we’re excited to say they’ve gone very well. To kick things off we both preached over the Memorial Day weekend – Sam was up in Longmont at the Journey, while Nate was in Westminster at Family in Christ. Between the two of us we preached at 5 services!

Last weekend was our first here at Eastern Hills Community Church. We were introduced to the congregation as residents working with Eastern Hills in efforts to plant a church in the Denver Metro Area in a year or so. It was great! We met tons of people, shook lots of hands, and even got some info from some who are interested in the planting idea. God is good!

This week started with a staff in-service day, in which we considered how we can best care for ourselves in the hurried life of ministry. We talked about self-care and boundaries and we concluded the time with an afternoon of silent retreat. Burn out really is a danger in ministry, too often we live hurried lives. Maybe it’s apropos in light of the great basketball coach, John Wooden’s, passing that we in ministry like in basketball need to “be quick, but don’t hurry.” Later in the week we met with the Denver Cluster group to discuss how we see the cluster developing and how we can best support and encourage one another in our ministries. In other ministry news, Sam also has begun to lead a women’s bible study with nearly 40 women and Nate is looking into starting a discussion group at a local pub – “Theology on Tap.”

On the home front, C.J., our chocolate lab is loving her new back yard. The house we found on CraigsList is working our really well and we’re beginning to get a handle on our neighborhood too.

Please continue to keep us in prayer as we navigate a lot of new things in our lives. Pray that we acculturate well – not just to the altitude or the neighborhood, but also to Eastern Hills and the people here. God continues to be faithful as we are settling in well. Thank you for all your support both in prayer and financial. We look forward to giving you a financial update soon too. Best of blessings to you all!
