Dear Friends and Family,

We hope this letter finds you well. The last couple of months have been very busy for us. We want to share some of our excitement with you, and take this opportunity to thank you for your support.

During these months we have spent a lot of time in prayer asking God for his leading in our church-planting endeavor. We are happy to share that through scripture, through reading church planting materials, and in conversations with people in Denver and with many of you, God continues to affirm our call to reach the unchurched in the Denver area. We are encouraged by this confirmation as we continue to work out the details.

Last week we made a trip to Denver for several days of meetings. While there, we met with three church plant leaders: Rick Ebbers, Paul Jorden, and Shawn Sikkema. These mission minded pastors are coaching us through the process of setting up our residency. They also continue to support us as prayer partners and as the lead team for The Denver Cluster. We had an opportunity to meet with the Ministries North Committee of Classis Rocky Mountain (the Classical Home Missions Committee) and they expressed their excitement for us and pledged financial support as we look to move to Denver in April. Finally, we met with leadership from both First CRC and Third CRC of Denver. They too expressed their excitement for church planting in the area. Please pray this excitement continues to grow in the local churches.

As our time here at Chelwood CRC in Albuquerque begins to draw to a close we’re thankful for God’s faithfulness to his people here. They recently voted to pursue calling a full time pastor; we are all excited about what God is doing at Chelwood.  We’re looking forward to the celebration of three baptisms on Easter Sunday – an evidence of God’s work.

With April approaching, we’re so thankful for your support. We have felt your prayers over the last several months. We ask that you pray for us as we discern the specific details of our residency in Denver. Please pray for the churches in the Denver area as they consider how they might best join us in our effort. Also, pray for the unchurched throughout Denver. Pray for the individuals and the community to whom we’ll share the light of the gospel.

Thank you for your financial support. We are so blessed to report that through your generosity we met our 2009 year-end goal of raising $20,000 in pledges and cash gifts. God continues to affirm His call on our lives through your giving. We’re now challenged to raise an additional $30,000 by Easter of this year. These funds provide us the fiscal foundation for our work in Denver. Thank you to those who have already given and we hope more of you consider partnering with us through monthly tax-deductible gifts.

We know that the Spirit is at work and that God’s message of salvation must be shared. Our prayer is that through all of our efforts, the church will better live out the Great Commission and embody the loving God we serve. If you haven’t already, please consider supporting our work. Enclosed is a pledge card that suggests some potential gifts. You may also donate via one of the Cluster churches’ websites at For those of you in Canada, please see our blog (link below) for instructions in how to receive a tax receipt. We ask that you prayerfully consider how you might partner with us in God’s work of sharing the good news to the people in Denver.

Please keep us in your prayers the first week of March, as we’ll be looking for a home to rent. Pray for the Spirit’s guidance as to what neighborhood we should invest ourselves. We trust that God will continue to lead us as we make this move.

We encourage you to stay connected with us through our on-line blog – For those of you who tweet, we are also now on Twitter – On our blog there is post entitled “Why Plant New Churches?” where we give a biblical rational for planting new churches, and explore some of the reasons we’re called to the Denver area. We’ll continue to update the blog on a regular basis.

We thank you all for your love and support. You are truly a blessing in our lives. We thank God for you, love you, and look forward to hearing from you!
